Cortisol is are produced by the adrenal glands. Normally, this hormone helps to balance your body systems after a bout of stress. But if the stress is unrelenting and seems unsolvable it makes cortisol toxic. It can affect your blood pressure and your blood sugar levels and it can lower you ability to fight infections.
