Women and Blood Pressure

Did you know that 3 out of 4 women have high blood pressure?  Less that one in three of those women are controlling it. Women should take notice of these conditions that can increase their blood pressure. Being pregnant can raise blood pressure, harm internal organs and cause a low birth weight and early delivery. Be sure to check in with your doctor about how to regulate it and possibly take care of it without medication. Oral contraceptives can also increase blood pressure especially women over 35 and those who smoke. You may consider trying a different kind of birth control if you fall into these categories. Hormone replacement therapy has been attributed to high blood pressure in some cases, check with your doctor to see if you’re at risk.
