Hi Bob,

Your blood pressure is in the range to benefit effectively from natural methods to lower it. The fact that the diastolic (bottom number) is lower than the systolic (top number) is a great sign. It is easier to lower the top number than it is to lower the bottom number.

You may want to look into the DASH diet which has proven effective to lower blood pressure but the other think you should consider is slow deep abdominal respiration. This is very effective in reducing the systolic component of elevated blood pressure. It acts on the relaxation response to dilate the blood vessels which lowers blood pressure; it counteracts any stress response that may be contributing.

The easiest way to do slow deep abdominal respiration is to use the Resperate biofeedback device. This has been specifically cleared by the FDA to lower blood pressure.

Let us know how your doctor visit goes.

Hi,

My doctor wants to place me on the drug (Lisinopril and Hydrochlorothiazide to lower my blood pressure. I said no that I will bring it down naturally. I have been plagued with gout for a number of years (25) and have that pretty much taken care of with diet, and that is the reason why my BP is slightly high. I have been reading just about every health book I can get my hands on. The BP reading are 150-165/73-78 with a heart rate of 56-62. Actually I don't believe my blood pressure is high enough to go onto drugs, and should be able to lower it more with eating better foods and more live foods along with more regular exercise. I have been taking supplements also omega 3, calcium, magnesium, potassium, along with a multi-vitamin. The beet juice sounds great.

I have another doctors appointment in a few days. I will also try to loose 3-5 pounds.

Though your input will be appreciated. Thanks!
