Excess Weight, a Risk to High Blood Pressure
March 26th, 2008 by admin
It’s no secret that people who are overweight can develop a significant rise in their blood pressure. The main cause of this is that those who are overweight tend to have higher blood sugar levels so their pancreas produces extra insulin to break it down. With this increase in insulin, surges of adrenaline occur increasing the functioning of the heart. Higher insulin levels can also trigger the kidneys absorbing excess levels of water and salt. All of these contribute to high blood pressure. Being overweight poses a real threat to health and is something not to be taken lightly.
